This course is an introduction to the broad field of cosmetology. It prepares students for further training in the field. Students will receive training in the care and beautification of the hair, skin and nails. Chemical services such as hair coloring, chemical relaxing, and permanent waving will be introduced. Care of the hair will include scalp treatments, hair shaping, and hair styling. Care of the skin will include facials, massage, and make-up application. Care of the nails will include manicures and pedicures. Students have the opportunity to participate in leadership activities by joining the SkillsUSA organization.
This class meets second semester all day.
NOTE: A separate application and interview is required which will be scored with a rubric to determine a student’s admittance into the program.
